If you'd like to play with your friends, then choose the Campaign option. You take control as one of two protagonists. The objective is to overcome zombies, obstacles and reach the goal.

The 2 players mode is a wargame where the two players each have a base from the which they can create blocky warriors for the other side. If you defeat your opponent and destroy their base you win.
